About Me

Meet The Gestaltist

My teenage years were troubled and rebellious but, in my 20s, I found sobriety. Eight years and a divorce later, I stumbled back down a path of self-destruction. I came off the rails and spiraled out of control, all the way to rock bottom at 36. I got sober again and this time it stuck. I finished the psychology degree I’d abandoned earlier and secured myself a safe and steady job. I was doing the work, but something was missing, and I felt unfulfilled. Looking up Melisa Pearce, my former therapist, I discovered her Equine Gestalt Coaching certification program. The two-year, intensive program incorporated deep process work that helped me get in touch with my many parts of self, healing old wounds to discover a strength and confidence I didn’t know I had in me. I’ve learned my triggers, my avoidance tactics, and how to respond rather than react. Most importantly, I’ve learned to love myself, flaws and all – and I want to help others find this same peace and confidence.

About the EGCMethod®

The Equine Gestalt Coaching Method ® was developed by Melisa Pearce, a core founder since 1989, of the horse-human healing movement.  The method is experiential and involves the horse as an active partner with the coach in the client’s exploratory process. The approach of the equine’s interaction combined with positive coaching, somatic awareness guidance and Gestalt methodology, assists the client in examining their life and choices made with a focus on designing a positive future.

Preparing for your EGC Session

Your EGCMethod session with the horse will be outdoors or in an enclosed arena. Be sure to dress appropriately to be outdoors and in the weather. Although you may choose not to go into the pen with the horse, almost everyone does — please wear close toed shoes. You will not ride the horse. No horse experience is necessary.

Imagine a coach who will always see your truth through all the stories you’ve told yourself and the world.  Someone who will never judge you and who always has your back.  In this work our Equine partners bring their own special and unique gifts to deepen our awareness and healing.  In the Equine Gestalt Coaching Method, the horses are equal and autonomous partners in the process, and each session is unique to what the horse sees in you in that moment.

Meet Handsome

Simply being in Handsome’s gentle presence will allow your body to relax and will help move you into a state that is more open to creative play and problem solving.  Handsome will help bring your unfinished business into your awareness, holds nonjudgmental space for your process, and is a steady presence alongside you as you learn to find your ground. It might just be the best gift you’ve ever given yourself.

Meet Ruby

Being around Ruby is like being with a supportive friend who will call you on your BS.  She holds space for you, checks in with you, and stands with you when she senses you need it.  She is independent and smart.  She will show you if you’re not being completely honest with yourself.  All horses like congruency.  They are prey animals and rely on their instincts.  They need to feel that you are what you say, think, and feel you are.
